This past weekend I decided I wanted to go to the beach in North Carolina and take some pictures. So I threw my camera in the car and off I went. On my way there I was going through a town and started seeing signs about a Halloween Dog Parade and decided that would be a better choice. Because, c’mon, a Halloween Dog Parade trumps a beach trip any day of the week.
There were witches
damsels
non-scary clowns
baseball players
frogs
lions posing for pictures
tiny little puppies in tutus
peacocks
firemen
and even pigs!
Know what else they had? Jack’s adopted brother and the newest member of the Ledford household. Internets meet Bobo Ledford:
Bobo is a four year old Walker Coonhound. His previous owner passed away and Bobo needed a new home. He’s super sweet and gentle and we love him. I am also barring myself from any future beach trips.
Rescue dogs are the best. Usually housebroken, past the puppy-chewing stage, what’s not to love? Besides the fact that he is a very handsome dog! Congratulations!!!
Walkers are cool dogs, they were originally bred for fox hounds in England, but they are bodacious hunters and used stateside to hunt cats, coon, and bears. They also work well as hog dogs.
Perhaps more than you wanted to know, but, I do admire walkers.
I am looking forward to Bobo stories. I am sure he will be a big help in tracking hobos and hos for killing. Not to mention, he looks like a world class grave…….um hole digger. Yup, that’s just a hole. Now, as a North Carolinian I must know where this doggie Halloween parade is held.
Yahoooooooooo…or the equivalent in Hound dawg crooning. We recently rescued a Bloodhound mix and now the whole neighborhood stops and listens when she sings.
Welcome to the blog world Bobo! I’m sure I speak for all Monkey Junkies in saying we can’t wait to hear all about your new life (and see lots of cute pictures).
I’m glad everyone in your animal kingdom likes him Laura. It’s certainly meant to be. He’s a handsome devil and I’m glad he’s found a great home (boy oh boy, he has no idea how spoiled he’s gonna be!).
Thank you for taking a chance on a rescue dog! I’ve been working with a rescue for almost 14 years and in my experience rescue dogs are the best! I had a bluetick hound who killed carpenter bees. Maybe you can teach Bobo to kill cockroaches!
That’s great Jack and his sisters like Bobo !
We have a rescue cat, Buster, and his personality is that of the sweetest soul.
I think rescue dogs and cats KNOW they were rescued and are quite appreciative.
Bobo the hobo chaser! Sorry his owner died and so glad you found each other. Even Tink and Thelma like him? Wait, I can’t believe Jack hasn’t torn him a new one just for crossing the threshold. He is stunning.
That is uber-fabulous!
Now Jack has someone to blame all the shenanigans on and you have a Palmetto-bug extermination service right at your beck and call.
Just spray random bugs outside with bacon instead of bug spray. He’ll get the idea.
If not, I’ll lend you my cat, but he chews and spits them out, then does it again. And again. Eew.
How wonderful! That’s the best news I’ve heard in days! Rupert (who was a shelter dog and is the best dog in the world) and I wish the new Bobo Ledford a hearty “Welcome Home” and an enthusiastic congrats to the rest of all ya’ll. We can’t wait for more pix….
HooRay!!!! Congratulations
Thanks!
Welcome to the family, Bobo!
I think he’ll enjoy it.
wow! he’s cute and how did Jack handle it? The kitties? The pics are great and yes, you are banned!
Everyone loves him. It’s amazing.
Well then it was meant to be! Congrats on the new family member.
Thank you!

All dogs should be rescued dogs until there’s no more dogs to rescue!
This!!!!
Welcome to your new loving home Bobo! You are going to love it here <3
That’s what J said. “Boy, you hit the lottery as far as homes go.” Ha!
Awe! Congrats! And he bears my middle name! Awesome!
You can be his Godmother!
Whoo HOO!!! If I ever get my blog working again (it has an STD/glitch) then I will have to post pictures.
Yes!
Congrats! He looks like a good, sweet boy!
He really is.

He is one powerhouse of a dog too.
So, you left for the beach and came home with a dog. Lol! You’d better not leave for the beach very often, or you’ll be overrun!
(He’s a cutie tho!)
I’m on lockdown.

It was in South Carolina still! I never made it to the border! HA!
Yahoooooooooo…or the equivalent in Hound dawg crooning. We recently rescued a Bloodhound mix and now the whole neighborhood stops and listens when she sings.
I love the howl of a hound! Unless it’s whilst I’m sleeping and they’re just doing it for the hell of it.
Great costume on that last one. He looks just like a dog.
Just wait…
I can’t wait to see your doggie costumes! Welcome Bobo!
Ha! Just in time for Halloween!

I think he has an inkling by now.

YES! He can be my hero against Palmetto Bugs!
This is fabulous! Bobo is a beaut!
He is a gorgeous beast (and I think he knows it.)
Rescue dogs are indeed the best dogs. Yay for you and Bobo and the whole damn family!
YAY us!
Welcome Bobo!! You’re going to love your new forever home! Hope you can keep up Jack. Don’t let him talk you into too much trouble.
THAT is what I fear most.
What fabulous news! Bobo is a cutie and so happy the rest of your gang likes him.
Rescues are *the* best.
Welcome, Bobo!!
Bobo says “Hey!”
That’s great Jack and his sisters like Bobo !
We have a rescue cat, Buster, and his personality is that of the sweetest soul.
I think rescue dogs and cats KNOW they were rescued and are quite appreciative.
This is one of the sweetest, mellowest dogs in the world.
Bobo the hobo chaser! Sorry his owner died and so glad you found each other. Even Tink and Thelma like him? Wait, I can’t believe Jack hasn’t torn him a new one just for crossing the threshold. He is stunning.
Bobo is so gentle, Jack doesn’t see him as a threat at all. Of course, with Jack’s spinal problems they will only have supervised visits.
That is uber-fabulous!

Now Jack has someone to blame all the shenanigans on and you have a Palmetto-bug extermination service right at your beck and call.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that Bobo will hunt Palmetto Bugs.
Just spray random bugs outside with bacon instead of bug spray. He’ll get the idea.

Ewww. That cat just doesn’t learn.

Thanks! He’s a great dog.
What a lucky pooch. Our new rescue dog teamed up with one of the cats and they are now trying to be a cartel.
Uh oh. Sleep with one eye open.
I’m glad Jack is cool with him. Hopefully, they won’t conspire and come up with some cruel pranks to play on you.
Don’t give them any ideas. Jack would have to corrupt Bobo first.
Bobo is a gorgeous boy! And the lil guy in the frog costume is awesome.
They had the cutest dogs there. There’s tons more pics, when I edit them and post them to Flickr I’ll let everyone know so they can GO LOOK AT THEM.
Good lookin’ hound and good for you for taking him in. Good boy, Bobo!
Give him a skritch behind the ears from me, willya?!?!
I will! He’s gorgeous.
Awwww… Bobo! What a very lucky boy you are! Congratulations buddy!
P.S. Your Mommy & Jack are pretty lucky, too
He is so sweet, I think we all lucked-out.
Congratulations! Here’s to many happy years together! Glad you found each other.
Thank you! Me too!
Aw, what a sweet face! Congrats on the newest Ledford mob member, Laura!
He is sweet! And thanks!
OMG…how cute is he…you are such a sap…I love it.congratulations …….
Yes I am and thank you.
ZOMG!!! WANT THAT DOG!!!
Congrats on the new pal!!
Thank you! I LOVE this dog. Jack loves him too!
Congrats on your new addition. Remember, saving a dog will not change the world, but for that dog the world will change forever.
You’re awesome Laura.
Awww, now you’re my new best friend too.
It’s now Halloween – whatever happened to the Holiday Spider? Did you leave it with the bunch o’bitches?
Packed. I still have everything but clothes packed!
