Happy Memorial Day Weekend! | Fetch My Flying Monkeys
Everyone needs a fleet of flying monkeys to rip the stuffing out of the annoying people in their lives
— Laura

I meant to post pictures of the Memorial Day Holiday Wall I decorated  at work earlier, but forgot to what with all the excitement of my three day Memorial Day weekend.  And by “excitement” I mean laying on the couch in my pajamas watching an I Dream of Jeannie marathon, getting up only to refill my sippy cup with gin during commercials. Damn, Major Nelson was hawt, or maybe that’s the booze talking. I don’t know. All I know is the episode where Jeannie joins him on a moon mission or gets him a new liver ( I forget which) is coming up and I’m almost out of gin, so here’s the photos:

Memorial Day Spider

Spiders are very patriotic. Fact.

Memorial Day Holiday Wall Spider

No bitches were harmed in the creating of this wall. Dammit.

  2. guffaw says:

Does SPIDERCO give you a stipend? Seriously.

  3. Jeffro says:

    Saaaalute!

And thank you for your service as well, Laura.

  4. Jennifer says:

LOL! I love the holiday spider! Those Bunch O’Bitches can bite it!

  5. Joe the Blog Stalker says:

I was starting to worry the spider had been thrown away. But I knew we’d probably have to go post bail for you if that had happened.

  6. Jena says:

awesome and happy Memorial Day to you too! Im gonna be manning the grill.

  7. Jena says:

    The jedi assholes were hysterical!

  8. DogsDontPurr says:

I love your spider! Seeing him totally made my day! You are a major master spider designer!

And now for some name dropping:

A friend of mine has worked with Larry Hagman for many years. He tells me that Larry is a pretty cool guy, a lot like his character in Genie, and not at all like his persona of J.R. on Dallas. And that prior to the new liver, he was drinking six bottles of champagne a day. Oh the life!

So there you go….a little name dropping TV trivia for your holiday weekend!

    • Laura says:

I love name dropping! I’m glad he’s more like Major Nelson and less like JR. JR was an asshole and deserved to be shot. I’m also glad he got a new liver.

  9. I wondered if maybe one day your patriotic spider would give a shout-out to your Canadian friends? Such as me?

  10. PermaTourist says:

I think the patriotic spider needs a pet goat.

  11. Steph says:

does spider have an actual name? I feel I should be on a first name basis with him by this point.
If you’ve already mentioned his name, then I forgot, and am an idiot.

  12. patti says:

    Fritzie the holiday spider!
    just a thought

  13. Ethan says:

why dont you have a “NAME THE SPIDER CONTEST”? and let Jack pick the winner again……..

  14. VEG says:

HA! All that is missing from that wall is an Easter bunny and a pointsettia.

  15. Look at the size of that arachnid! Sure am glad I cleaned all the guns today just in case the Yankees try pulling off a sneak attack while we’re busy trying to eat my brother in law out of house and home tomorrow! We rank Yankees about two levels below spiders and we hate spiders!

  16. Jan says:

    Patriotic spider is patriotic!

  17. Yabu says:

No such thing as too much Gin. Last time I got into the Gin, I robbed a liquor store…that shit makes me crazy. True story…I should put it up.

Is that spider plugged into the power strip?

  18. Larry says:

It just wouldn’t be Memorial Day without Patriotic Spider!

  19. PRINCESS says:

Went out in the boat today…….. All Day.. was under the Bimini and still fried….I hope you had a nice day on the couch… I would have loved that, in the air-conditioning. I am soooooooo jealous….Happy Memorial day to U and thank U for your service. (I’m saluting)

  20. Tad says:

We had a very nice day today. I look like a Lobster but it was good. I hope you had a nice day as well. I love the spider. Nice to see him/her patriotic. Where in the hell do you find all these deco’s? You must shop constantly….I am saluting you as well. thank you.

  21. Holiday says:

I hope you have a nice day tomorrow. Happy Memorial to you. and thanks for your service. I’m glad to see Spidy back in the pix. he looks good!

  22. Maeve says:

    Dear Sweet Zombie Jesus!
I never liked spiders until you started celebrating the holidays with them…

  23. llama says:

When I read “Memorial Day Holiday Wall I decorated at work”, my first thought was they better have let her decorate with the spider. Spiders are patroitic – look at Spiderman. He isn’t fighting for the commies now, is he?

  24. I don’t miss working in an office, but I’m wondering now if that’s because there were no patriotic spiders or holiday walls of any sort.
Thanks for your service, and for making me laugh!

  25. patti says:

dude used stick science on the worm ball!

  26. Tink says:

“NO BITCHES WERE HURT”? Well were gonna have to do something about that now aren’t we.. HA! You are hysterical! and Thank U for being U.

  27. Dannie says:

It almost made me stand up to sing….almost. Good job Spider!

  28. Elphaba says:

I dunno. Major Nelson looks too much like J.R., who deserved to be shot. (Oops…showing my age, now!)

Love the spider. Nothing more patriotic, IMVHO. Happy Memorial Day, Laura!

  29. mel says:

I now make it a point to come here on holidays just to see the spider. I know I can count on him being here every holiday.

  30. AmyLynn says:

I salute the patriotic spider and all of our troops including your bad ass self, Miss Laura!

I do agree that a contest to name the spider would be killah

    that is all

PS Blogger sucks, it ate almost all of my comments

  31. Nicole says:

I always suspected spiders were patriotic.

  32. MorningGlory says:

I know I’m late to this party … story of my life. I’d like to make a motion that Laura do a ‘Spider of the Month” calendar, with Holiday Spider dressed appropriately for each month. I will buy one, or eight. Holiday Spider is teh awesome!
