It’s Monday and I’m still writing about Sunday stuff and wishing that today was Friday. | Fetch My Flying Monkeys
Everyone needs a fleet of flying monkeys to rip the stuffing out of the annoying people in their lives
— Laura

Because I didn’t want to go to Hell yesterday, after I washed my car I laid up in the house enjoying the Lord’s Day the proper way, doing nothing. Then I got hungry and because God wasn’t going to come cook me some supper, I threw some pork chops in the Crock Pot with some onions and BBQ sauce. I call them Crock Chops. Here’s photographic proof of my sin:

Crock Chops

Then I thought nothing says observing the Sabbath like watching a good ole’ zombie movie, so I went into Netflix and lo and behold the movie that Dick at Big Dick’s Place recommended, Dead Snow, was available in the Watch Instantly section! I took it as a sign and watched it.

I don’t know how I have missed this flick, but it was an excellent campy zombie movie. It’s about a bunch of friends on vacation in the mountains of Norway and they get attacked by zombie Nazis. That simple. Gore, Nazis, and comedy. I loved it. It’s Norwegian and is subtitled, but worth finding your glasses for.

I give this movie three brains and a spoon.

Brain Brain Brain Spoon

I don’t know why I added a spoon, but I think if I were a zombie I’d want a spoon to eat brains with. There’s really no reason to be so messy just because you’re a zombie.

Now here’s a cat playing a banjo:

Chops look great! I grilled my pork chops yesterday. Have a great day.
*** It’s too hot here to go outside and grill. I’d pass out. You have a great day yourself! ~Laura

  2. Jennifer says:

    LMAO!
I’m going to have to make those chops and watch that movie! That cat cracked me up.
*** Yes, do both. The chops are okay, nothing to write home about. Easy to make is the best thing. ~Laura

  3. Jennifer says:

That Velociraptor pic link over there is hysterical! lol
    *** I thought so. ~Laura

  4. Mr. Bingley says:

    Brains are certainly spoon food.
Chopsticks would be too danged messy.
*** They’d probably be too slippery for chopsticks. ~Laura

  5. Mary Beth says:

LOL @ the cat playing a banjo.
You are right, watching zombie movies is the best way to observe the Sabbath.
    *** I thought it was. ~Laura

  6. Tara says:

I would use a soup spoon on brains I think.
    *** For mushy-brained people? ~Laura

  7. Joe the Blog Stalker says:

I think all cats should play banjos.
*** No way. They’re noisey enough, at least mine is. ~Laura

  8. Oh yes…one of my favorite movies ever! Never fails to cheer me up :)
Nice porkchops too. Post the recipe! And the cat needs a sidekick, like a washtub-playing mouse.
*** Chops, onions, cover with BBQ sauce of your choice and cook on high about 6 hours. Easy as pie, but more so. ~Laura

  9. The Nickster says:

Laura, Laura, Laura. That movie licked balls. I watched it based on a recommendation and lost brain cells (not my whole brain…I think…nevermind) in the process. It is a weak combination of “Evil Dead” and “Pirates of the Carribean”. Given the Nazi connection…I feel the hand of J.
*** HA! No no, you have to be in the right mood for these sorts of movies! The hanging on to the guts whilst falling over a cliff ect. Good stuff. And I did think of J with all that Nazi stuff going on. I bet if he ever became zombie he’d head for the Norwegian mountains. ~Laura

  10. Heather says:

The chops look good, the brains- not so much. I do like that cat playing the banjo.
    *** It’s an abomination. HA! ~Laura

  11. dick says:

Those pork chops looked pretty damn tasty.
Not too shabby for a skinny chick.
*** I think you’re confusing me with my self portraits aka stick figures. Ha! ~Laura

  12. Shelly says:

Laura, I just wanted to tell you that I am glad you blog almost everyday so I can laugh. Than you!
    *** You’re welcome. ~Laura

  13. THE Mr. Bill says:

The chops look tasty, will have to try that.
Loved “Dead Snow”, as did a friend…campy + gore, what’s not to like?
Hey, did you see Hollywood is doing a remake of “Let The Right One In”? Its called “Let Me In”, hopefully they won’t eff it up too badly.
*** YES! I loved “Let the Right One In” so dark and sad and murderously wicked. And I am worried because the US has a problem showing violence against kids on film and well, we all know what happens to those asshole bullies. I really don’t think they’ll be able to capture the right mood of the film, but maybe they will surprise me. ~Laura

  14. LeeAnn says:

My favorite zombie movie is “Night of the Comet”, which you’ve probably seen because all the cool kids have. And goats. Goats watch it all the time.
*** Goats stay on top of not only roof and trees, but cool movies. Yes, it was a very excellent “Let’s go shopping” zombie flick. ~Laura

  15. Curtal Friar says:

Never seen Dead Snow….one of these days.
Open Thread Challenge up at my place you might have fun with!
    *** You should see it…I’ve been over there : ) ~Laura

  16. rathead says:

Well, I waiting to hear if I have lunch today????? They look wonderful!!!!
*** I thought you were buying! Ha! ~Laura

  17. MorningGlory says:

I did beef ribs in the crock pot over the weekend. I wrap them in foil first (with the bbq sauce and onions); that way, there is ZERO cleanup. I’m all about not doing dishes!
    *** Oh me too. ~Laura

  18. Dave says:

I want that cat picture to go next to the picture of have of dogs playing poker. I wonder if it comes on velvet.
*** I bet someone would paint you one if you paid them. ~Laura

  19. Erik says:

MMMM…pork chops and Nazi zombies – sounds like a good combo.
We watched “Dial M for Murder” last night – what a kick. Watching Ray Milland ever so Englishy blackmail a man to kill his wife. I wish I speak all proper English like that.
    *** I do. Badly, but I do. ~Laura

  20. Patricia says:

You know, Jesus did rise from the dead. So, technically, zombie. I think watching a campy zombie movie is a great way to show your appreciation for the total brainwashing of most of the human race. We were going to have pork tenderloin for dinner on Sunday but my body rebelled against me late Saturday and I spent most of the Lord’s Day in bed, moaning in a way that did not mean I was having fun.
*** Oh that was Satan all up in you then. Ha! ~Laura

  21. zonker says:

I think my favorite part of this particular blog post is the way y-…oh, look! A squirrel!
*** Ha! You “get” my ADD posts completely. Now bring back that squirrel~Laura

  22. Jade says:

    I loved Dead Snow.
    *** Me too. ~Laura

  23. Stacy says:

Those pork chops look devine. You must be one hell of a cook.
    *** I am. ~Laura

  24. garnet says:

I wish my cat played a banjo.
*** To noisey. But then again, you could sell tickets. ~Laura

  25. Alice says:

I’ve made BBQ chops in the crock pot, I like them.
*** They are pretty good. ~Laura

  26. Ceecee J. says:

    I love that movie.
    *** It was cool. ~Laura

  27. lifeshighway says:

The cat looks like he wants someone to burn in hell. After the picture was taken he probably ate the photographers brains.
*** Zombie Banjo Playing Cat could be made into a movie. ~Laura

  28. Lizbeth says:

I really like your blog and I like banjo playing cats.
    *** Thanks, Lizbeth. ~Laura

  29. CGHill says:

Now if you can train a badger to play pedal steel, you’ll have the scariest country band in the state.
*** HAHA! Oh my God, but how awesome would that be? Way awesome is how awesome. ~Laura

  30. Digger says:

Dead Snow had one of the best battle scenes at the end with those two guys taking the Nazis on.
*** Yes, it was an excellent battle, and the amputation was wacky funny. ~Laura

  31. Tink says:

I did that crock pot thingy tonight .I used sirloin chops and put them in the crock pot with picante’ sauce and artichoke hearts. Then made Dragon rice to go with it. so it was a little different but I gotta tell ya when you cook that picante’ sauce it gets FRICKEN HOT, OMG it was soooooo spicy. Which I’m sure you already knew but just had to let you know in case you didn’t… serve with WATER!
*** HA! Try BBQ sauce next time. ~Laura

  32. Yabu (EOTIS) says:

That looks too damn good. I fire up my crock pot all the time, and I’m for damn sure gonna try that…today.
*** It was yummy. The chops just fall apart. ~Laura
